Les bombardements touchent également le patrimoine culturel, victime collatérale d’un conflit étendu aux pays de la région.
A Téhéran, le palais du Golestan, vieux de quatre cents ans, a subi, dimanche 1er mars, les effets d’un tir de missile qui s’est abattu à proximité. Fenêtres soufflées, miroirs et vitraux brisés : d’après les images diffusées par les médias iraniens, les dégâts sont importants pour ce « Versailles » qui mêle décorations persanes et influence européenne. Des portions de bitume auraient même été soulevées à l’intérieur de l’édifice datant de l’époque safavide (XVIe siècle), puis agrandi sous le règne des Qadjars à la fin du XVIIIe siècle.
