Le réalisateur et scénariste de films d’animation Roger Allers, coréalisateur notamment du Roi Lion, est mort samedi à l’âge de 76 ans, a annoncé dimanche soir le président de Disney, Robert Iger, sur son compte Instagram.
« Roger Allers était un visionnaire créatif dont les nombreuses contributions à Disney resteront gravées dans les mémoires pour les générations à venir », a déclaré Robert Iger. « Il comprenait le pouvoir des grandes histoires (…) Son travail a contribué à définir une ère de l’animation qui continue d’inspirer les spectateurs du monde entier, et nous lui sommes profondément reconnaissants pour tout ce qu’il a apporté à Disney », a ajouté M. Iger.
Outre Le Roi Lion (1994), un des plus gros succès des studios Disney, Roger Allers a travaillé sur plusieurs classiques de Disney, comme Tron, La petite Sirène, La Belle et la Bête ou encore Aladdin.
