Après plus de trente ans passés derrière ses machines, Paul Kalkbrenner, figure majeure de la musique électronique allemande, revient aujourd’hui avec son neuvième album, The Essence. Un opus dans lequel le compositeur exploite toute son expérience mélodique au service d’une techno minimale rêveuse mais jamais assommante (Ninety-Two, Die Stübernitze, Klettermaxe). Il se montre toujours capable d’envahir radios et playlists, à l’image de sa collaboration à succès avec Stromae sur le titre hypnotique Que ce soit clair.
