Non qu’elle y fût jamais trop présente ni pour autant occultée, il y aurait en ce moment comme un petit retour de la condition ouvrière – qu’on nous a dit appartenir à un autre siècle – dans la fiction française. Après Leurs enfants après eux (Ludovic et Zoran Boukherma, 2024), Météors (Hubert Charuel, 2025), Enzo (Laurent Cantet, 2025) ou Les Braises (Thomas Kruithof, 2025), Grand ciel est le premier long-métrage d’Akihiro Hata, réalisateur d’origine japonaise formé à l’école de la Femis, à Paris.
L’originalité du parcours faisait donc espérer quelque chose qui nous sorte des ornières du film engagé, et on l’a trouvé. A l’instar de son compatriote Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Hata nous propose, sur une pente qui elle-même n’est pas sans risques, un film sociofantastique, qui entreprend de mêler la trivialité de l’opposition de classe à une sorte de polar surnaturel. Une solide trame sociale lui sert de fond. Damien Bonnard en incarne le personnage principal, Vincent, ouvrier sur le chantier d’un ambitieux quartier futuriste.
