Il était l’un des architectes contemporains les plus connus au monde, l’Américano-Canadien Frank Gehry est mort le 5 décembre, à 96 ans, à Santa Monica, en Californie, son lieu de résidence.
Il est connu comme étant l’un des représentants du « déconstructivisme », un courant architectural qui s’émancipe des grandes règles de la symétrie, du tout droit, du tout propre.
Parmi ses créations : le musée Guggenheim, à Bilbao, la Fondation Louis Vuitton, à Paris, ou encore sa propre résidence, à Santa Monica, un mobile-home fiché dans une maison de verre, de bois et de métal.
Il avait remporté le prix Pritzker en 1989, plus haute distinction du monde architectural.
