Pourtant, quelques minutes plus tôt, le président américain avait congédié la secrétaire d’Etat à la sécurité intérieure, dans un message sur son réseau, Truth Social.
L’ultraconservatrice Kristi Noem était connue pour être un pilier du mouvement Make America Great Again (MAGA), mais aussi une figure controversée. En janvier, elle avait fait parler d’elle en qualifiant Renee Good et Alex Pretti, deux citoyens américains tués par la police fédérale de l’immigration (ICE) à Minneapolis, de « terroristes ». Elle deviendra « envoyée spéciale pour le bouclier des Amériques, une nouvelle initiative de sécurité dans l’hémisphère occidental » que Donald Trump détaillera samedi 7 mars, en Floride.
