Patrick Herminie, candidat d’opposition, a remporté la présidentielle aux Seychelles avec 52,7 % des suffrages, a annoncé, dimanche 12 octobre, la commission électorale seychelloise.
M. Herminie, médecin de profession, concourait à la tête de l’United Seychelles (US), l’ex-parti unique qui avait, jusqu’au précédent scrutin, donné au pays tous ses chefs d’Etat depuis 1977. L’US avait également remporté les législatives fin septembre.
Patrick Herminie l’a emporté face à Wavel Ramkalawan, le président sortant et leader de Linyon Democratik Seselwa (LDS, Union démocratique seychelloise). Ce dernier avait dirigé l’opposition de 1998 à 2011 et de 2015 à 2020, avant de prendre le pouvoir en 2020.
